A good quality LED flashlight is much more energy efficient and shock resistant compared to flashlights using incandescent bulbs because of the solid state light emitting diodes used. The conventional filament light bulbs are very prone to breakage from impact and overheating. A light bulb contains a very thin wire that is heated to produce light inside a small glass vacuum tube. Many LED flashlight collectors like to buy those with aircraft grade aluminum casing for corrosion, strength and lightweight advantages. However they are more expensive and may not be necessary. For example, you need a floating LED flashlight for water trips, so a cheap rubberized LED flashlight is actually more appropriate for your situation.
A good LED flashlight may cost nothing more than a traditional flashlight, but offer so much benefits that it is easy to choose which one to buy nowadays. It is very reliable and not prone to light bulb failure, and produces a near white light beam with no color distortions.
